My coaching philosophy centers around building the confidence in each and every athlete by pushing them to believe in themselves while learning new skills. I also promote a focus on inclusiveness, so each member feels like a true part of the team and to help build lasting friendships amongst the cheerleaders. These relationships will also allow the cheerleaders to work together and perform well as a team.
My philosophy for coaching is to encourage the kids to work hard and push themselves in their capabilities and to not give up with positive reinforcement and goals. To build a strong relationship with the team as a whole so we can all work together to improve ourselves daily and form a close bond. I want every kid to have a positive and uplifiting cheerleading experience.
First and foremost, I want the kids to have a great experience. I want them to enjoy and be excited to come to practice. 7th and 8th graders already have alot on their plates and I dont ever want them to feel overwhelmed. I want to be there to motivate and help them in any way I can. I want them to stay positive and grow in their cheer journey. I want them to learn how to make a great team work and come together. There will always be tough times, but with guidance they will be able to navigate through it.
My philosophy as a Cheerleading coach centers on the ideals of fostering a winning attitude, helping athletes develop physically and mentally, and instilling a true enjoyment and passion for cheerleading. While I aim for success, I never forget to emphasize fun. I believe true sporting joy acts as a powerful motivator and keeps the athletes engaged. And most importantley i care about creating a family-like environment within the team. A culture where everyone supports, encourages, and looks out for each other.
As a coach for a few years, I strongly believe at this level our cheerleaders (and parents) invest time and money into having a strong and well rounded season. I belive it is our duty as a couch to not only teach routines and counts, but also kindness, motivation, and leadership. Most of these cheerleaders go to school together and sometimes lines can be blurred; but as a team, lessons can be learned in cheerleading as the same goes for school. There will always be winner and losers, but what sets the line is what lesson we really learned from it.
My coaching philosophy is as follows, fostering teamwork, building confidence, and promoting personal growth. I believe in the importance of discipline, dedication, and creating a positive and inclusive team culture for all of our athletes. I encourage our athletes to set and pursue individual and team goals while also highlighting the value of sportsmanship and respect. Ultimately aiming to create an environment where each athlete feels supported and motivated to reach their full potential.
I'm looking to encourage the girls to be the best they can and promote focus and dedication while having fun and creating bonds for healthy friendships.
As a coach, I want to be able to teach my team the importance of trust above all else. Trust is the foundation to everything
we do on our HAJFL team: the cheerleaders need to trust us to guide and teach them; coaches need to trust the team to do
their best; parents need to trust that we will do right by their children; and the cheerleaders need to trust each other to do
their part to keep each others safe. I believe that expectations of all parties (myself included) need to be set early on, that the
cheerleaders need to be coached as individuals just as much as they do as a team, and that the coach needs to treat each
cheerleader as an individual and learn what coaching style each cheerleader responds best to, which all goes back to trust.
When it comes to coaching I believe that communication and trust are huge! Also being a good role model to the ones you are coaching! It’s super important to trust your teammates. Communication is also a big thing amongst teammates to be able to express how they feel to eachother and work together! With communication being able to trust and communicate with your coaches as much as teammates is just as important when it comes to team related things or even just needing someone to lean on!
I believe coaches can have both a structured environment along with having fun. Having both components not only prepares our littles for the future, but gives them the sense that what they are doing means something and that their actions and behaviors can have both a positive or negative impact on the team as a whole. The team aspect is balanced out by the sum of the individuals that make up the team and everyone's involvement is crucial to the team's success. It is important to keep the team on task and develop them with proper sportsmanship and gamesmanship. Not every practice or game will go as planned, but you can always learn something from each experience that you go through. I really enjoyed all of the coaches last season and look forward to meeting the new coaches that are joining the league.
My coaching philosophy is to provide the cheerleaders with a positive experience in the sport. I want to bring them knowledge and guidance. I want to help guide them into becoming strong and confident individuals both in cheer and in life. We have the ability to help these young children realize their potential, to teach them about perseverance, what it means to be part of a team. As a coach, we’re not just teaching them routines, jumps, and chants. We have the opportunity to be their role model too. The impact we can leave on these athletes and the lessons we teach, can very well stay with them throughout their time in the sport and in life. That’s why I coach!
Having an environment that encourages athletes to learn and develop on and off the field. Practice and having fun are important at this age. Learning discipline with help our athletes grow as a cheerleader and as an individual .
My coaching philosophy is to have an environment that encourages athletes to be their selves and to learn and develop new skills. Making memories, new friends and enjoying themselves along the way.
My coaching philosophy is built around inspiring the cheerleaders to becoming confident cheerleaders, while encouraging them to learning new skills and improving on existing ones. I also believes in building a strong team that supports and encourages one another.
This age should be about learning proper technique and building on it. I feel that proper technique is the foundation to a SAFE, fun experience. I also feel it is important for the girls to have a little awareness of how football works. Nothing crazy but what is offense, defense, is some one injured. It should be a fun environment, but also with discipline to make the most of practice time. I would plan to use games to help perfect moves and placements and make sure all tumbling/stunting has adequate spotters and instruction.
My philosophy would be fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, individual skill development, and dedication. Focusing on the athlete’s wellbeing and building a foundation of trust and security. Fostering an inclusive and respectful atmosphere. I want all our athletes to feel safe and valued. Encouraging communication and cooperation along with constant support, as well as letting each member know their roles are vital to the success of the team. Skill development would be ensuring that every member has a strong foundation in basic cheerleading techniques and always providing constructive feedback as well as celebrating all the small victories. I would like to instill a strong work ethic and dedication to practice and improvement from the beginning. Setting clear expectations regarding attendance, the athlete’s effort, and accountability. Creating goals throughout the season short term and long term and ensuring we are always on track to accomplish them. Lastly, to have fun! As we grow their mental toughness, I would want to ensure they are still having fun and not becoming burned out. By combining some of these principles I can help create a positive and enriching experience for our cheerleaders, as well as helping them succeed on the field and personally.
I believe a job of a cheerleader is to create an atmosphere that is so thick with excitement it can be felt in the stands!!! Positive energy and reinforcement to show the cheerleaders that they are capable of achieving and creating such environment. I want to make it fun, while still having productive practices that show the team hard work and dedication to a shared goal leads feeling confident and happy.

My coaching philosophy revolves around creating an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere where each participant feels valued and supported. I am committed to helping the athletes build not only their cheerleading skills but also their self-esteem and teamwork abilities. Through structured and positive coaching methods, I aim to inspire a love for the sport while fostering an environment that promotes personal growth and achievement.
I believe by encouraging our young cheerleaders to embrace challenges, learn from failures, and celebrate successes will not only build their confidence but also instill a sense of determination and resilience. Through our coaching skills, we are able to inspire them to dream big, set ambitious goals, and work hard to achieve them. With the right mindset and support, our girls can conquer any obstacle and shine brightly both on and off the cheerleading mat!

My coaching philosophy centers around developing not only strong cheerleaders but also good people. I believe that sports are a character-building arena and I aim to shape athletes who are not just skilled but also possess strong moral integrity. My goal is that each cheerleader comes away from the season with a stronger love for the sport, with an increased confidence in their ability to perform, and with a group of lifelong friends.
To have an enviornment that encourages our young athletes to develop and grow. Providing a strucuted learning environment that will challenge them while providing encouragement and support. Coming with a positive attitude and an open mind will allow our athletes to grow on and off the field. Teaching them about working together as a team and not always as an individual. We will get better each and every single day as a group.

As a coach, you have the unique opportunity to inspire and shape the lives of young athletes.
First and foremost, a great youth cheer coach should always prioritize the safety and well-being of their athletes. This means being knowledgeable about cheer/pom techniques and making sure that all practices are properly supervised.
In addition to prioritizing safety, a great coach should also be a great teacher. This means understanding fundamentals of cheerleading and being able to effectively communicate and demonstrate those skills to your athletes. Cheerleading is a team sport and it is important that every athlete feels like they are a valuable member of the squad.
A great coach should also be able to motivate their athletes to push themselves to be their best. This means setting high expectations, but also providing support and encouragement along the way. A great coach should be able to recognize their athlete’s strengths and weaknesses and work with them to help them reach their full potential.
Finally, a great youth cheer coach should lead by example. This means modeling good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for all athletes, coaches, and officials.
Being a great youth cheer coach is not just about teaching cheerleading skills, it is about being a mentor, motivator, and role model for young athletes. By prioritizing safety, being a great teacher, motivating your athletes, and leading by example, you can make a positive impact on the lives of your athletes and help them become the best versions of themselves.
What are your barriers to coaching?
There is no such thing as the perfect coach. We are all learning and refining our skills with each season and with each practice or game. The athletes will respond to a coach who has a positive attitude and a genuine interest in them as people regardless of the coaches age or previous knowledge. As a league, HAJFL Cheer/Pom has a training program established to help guide you on your coaching journey. In addition, the Cheer Directors are always available throughout the season to answer questions and provide advice or support. The most important part of coaching is a love for the kids and willingness to show up consistently.
Coaching cheer and pom with HAJFL is all about balancing the dynamic between being a drill sergeant coach and a best friend coach. The typical drill sergeant coach whose methodology is solely based on structure, discipline, and a complete lack of fun.
The best friend coach, on the other end of the spectrum, places all importance on having fun and completely lacks discipline and structure.
As a coach, being able to strike the perfect balance of structure, discipline, and fun is imperative to your success with your team and the organization.
Most importantly, as coaches, we must always remain professional and work to provide a consistent environment for our youth athletes.
We spend a great deal of time with our cheerleaders with all the hours we spend together at practices, camps, clinics, games, and competition. Developing a strong relationship with the athletes promotes an atmosphere of trust, team building, and connection. We lead by example and model for our cheerleaders the behaviors we expect from them, including the way to treat their teammates. It is easier to instill discipline and structure when the coach-athlete relationships are present and well-established. It is easier to carry out that discipline and structure when the athlete-athlete relationships are strong.
It will be your responsibility to set clear expectations and boundaries for the athletes as you start working with them at the beginning of the season. To do this, come to each practice and game with a set plan for the day’s events. How do you plan to gather the athletes together at the start of the activity? What warm-up and stretch sequence will you be doing? What drills will you be running after stretches? Which chants, routine portions, motions, tumbling, stunting do you plan to teach and practice? Having a clear plan in place with your fellow coaches will set the stage for smooth interactions for the cheerleaders and allow them the consistency from day-to-day that provides them comfort in knowing what to expect when they arrive to the track or mat.
